Weeknote 40

What went well
Collaborating with Josh on the epics for this quarter was easy and productive. I’m too used to being alone in product roles, Josh pushes me to do it faster and better with his help. Jem stuck his head in with sparky content design support too. What a guy!
We produced a lot of planned work. Next, prioritise again.
Working with Anna on some design improvements was the same smooth experience. Thanks Anna!
Inspiration hit watching Olivia present user research she’s been doing.
We did a show and tell on experiments that have come good. We’ll be taking this into future sprints.
I went to visits some local secondary schools with my son. I was absolutely overwhelmed by this but we’re lucky to have decent schools nearby.
We visited Yayoi Kusama’s latest thing at the Victoria Miro gallery. It was good fun and accessible if a little instagram-y. Look there, at the top: validated.
The exhibition upstairs was also worth a look.
What could have been better
I got a bit prickly with a colleague. I apologised in the end but it’s good I made it clear I won’t be expediting some things. My dance card is full.
My confidence dipped on Thursday when moving the product I’m working on from private to public seemed insurmountable. Unusually, doing a reasonably relaxed and straightforward show and tell helped, making me feel some confidence we’re doing the right stuff as a team.
My knees are giving me real problems. I mean, I’m probably doing more exercise now than any point in my life so friends have explained I just need to rest. I’ll drink some cans.

I really enjoyed Silver Haze with my wife. It was funny and tender. It’s also shocking how unusual it is to hear and see working class people in films.
